This technical reference book concerns a new gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process
with a reversing wire movement, which represents an extension of short-arc welding
technology. Due to the reduced heat input, this process is called "Cold Metal
Transfer" (CMT).
In addition to the process description, the different process variants and possible
settings are presented. The new areas of application that this opens up and
limitations of the process are discussed in relation to the welding of joints, brazing
and surface welding on different materials and compared with conventional welding
processes.
