The deposition rate and process stability are critical factors in achieving uniform coatings, as they directly influence the quality and performance of the final product. These parameters are affected by various factors, including powder morphology and selected process parameters. This investigation focuses on powder injection stability and the behavior of powder flow in a free jet, employing high-speed imaging and computer vision for quantitative analysis. The evaluation of powder stream intensity allows for the quantification of both the geometry of the powder streams and their stability over time. Utilizing laser illumination in conjunction with high-speed cameras enables the detection of particle flows in plasma spraying processes, providing valuable insights into optimizing process stability.
